- Maria Montessori

Liberated Montessori is a private, authentic Montessori preschool dedicated to nurturing the whole child.

We provide care and education for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years old, following the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori while integrating a rich Spanish curriculum, Positive Discipline, and a strong focus on social and emotional well-being.

Our Story

In the Summer of 2013, The Liberated Montessori House was established in Little Forest Hills by married couple, Leslie and Sterling Whitmore. We opened our home to the community by providing care for twelve children, ages 18 months to 5 years old.

In 2018, we expanded our reach by moving to a new, larger facility in the heart of East Dallas.

Five years later, in 2023, we had the opportunity to open a second campus, this time in Oak Cliff near the Bishop Arts District.

Our Programs

Nido

Ages 6 weeks to 15 months old

The Nido is an extension of Home. It's a peaceful space where infants and young toddlers are given the freedom to explore within a safe and carefully-prepared environment, surrounded by materials created for the sole purpose of drawing out and nurturing their natural curiosities.

Toddler

Ages 15 months to 3 years old

Toddlers learn by doing. Materials in the Toddler Community are thoughtfully chosen to be accessible, attractive, safe, and geared toward each child’s success. This program gently supports the toddler’s natural drive, curiosity, and desire to act and learn independently.”

Primary

Ages 3 to 6 years old

Children in this program begin with the simplest exercises based on the activities they are drawn to. The vast array of materials they may choose to work with are geared to aid concentration, coordination, and sense of order. Children leave this program as confident, independent, life-long learners.

Equity and Inclusion

Liberated Montessori is deeply committed to the ongoing work of creating, nurturing and sustaining an inclusive, equitable, anti-bias, and anti-racist school environment.

At Liberated we welcome all members of our community and our prospective community with open arms, and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, origin, religion, gender identity or expression.

We see this effort as ongoing and essential to the achievement of our overall mission. Children at Liberated are exposed to and encouraged to learn about different cultures around the world along with their celebrations and holidays. Students also learn about the many different types of families that make up our beautiful community.

Our school is progressive, diverse, accessible, LGBTQ+ friendly, and in a constant state of growth.

Our Campus

After more than a decade in the East Dallas area, we expanded our school in 2023 by opening a second campus, Liberated Montessori at Oak Cliff.

LMOC is located in the heart of Oak Cliff near the vibrant Bishop Arts District, and serves 100 students, ranging from 6 weeks to 6 years old.

Our campus features one Nido, three Toddler communities, and two Primary classrooms.
